Annarita Vitali works vintage materials according to forms and styles of the past to evoke, through jewelry, the fashions and trends that have characterized the history of the twentieth century. It is a world of sensations, love, imagination and colors that has been carried inside since childhood and expressed in the bijoux of its creation. Annarita Vitali's creations, handmade with vintage materials, seem to follow the history of jewelry in the twentieth century.
BIOGRAPHY
Annarita Vitali born in Bologna on 17/02/51. After the classical high school he enrolled at the DAMS where he graduated in History of Art in 1974 doing a thesis in urban planning with Prof. Cervellati, perhaps the only architect in the world who brilliantly put the conservation of the urban heritage and its redevelopment before disharmonious expansion or worse if possible the demolition of the urban landscape. "The conservation and evocation of the past, the history of what has been, especially in the small traces of human life, always exert a profound attraction on her". After a collaboration with the Gallery of Modern Art on the occasion of its opening where he collaborated on biographies of painters such as Pizzirani, Fiori, and on the Saetti exhibition and a previous collaboration with the Artistic Manifestations Authority, he began a fortuitous activity in the field of bijoux that it soon became a real small company with internal and external employees. From 2010 to 2011 she taught in Bologna at L.U.N.A. Free University of the Arts (design and fashion container, art gallery, laboratory for the production of prototypes). As a lecturer at the Free University of Fashion and Design, she deal with the fashion and accessories section with a marked focus on recycling, eco-design and sustainability projects.
The ecological choice to realize jewelry and accessories with the sole use of recovery material safeguarding the environment, with collections that trace history bijoux, position it high in the
ranking of low environmental impact brands. All his artifacts are made with original period materials, recovered from the ancient warehouse "Furlanetto", which
Annarita Vitali bought in 1998 saving, from certain destruction, the huge amount of material crammed in the warehouses of the company, thus becoming the custodian of real mine of vintage
material, which today revives in creations of rare and delicate beauty.
This is the story of my recovery activity of an old warehouse from which I obtained the period materials for my creations!
"In Bologna there are people who have conservation and recovery in their DNA; Annarita Vitali, graduated in Urban Planning with the Architect Cervellati, who has always been active in the
recovery of historic centers,
he pursued, working on his own, after a collaboration with the Body of Artistic Events and the Gallery of Modern Art, of recovery, aimed at jewelery and its creation. It all started with the
purchase of the old "Furlanetto" warehouse. Founded in 1925, taken over with all the ancient materials, and revived with the artistic creations of Annarita Vitali in 1998.
The company, founded by Romeo Furlanetto in 1925, produced fashion accessories, sold internationally, and collaborated with important designers, including Valentino, Chanel and Balenciaga, of
which it was the distributor for Italy ... just to name a few. On the premature death of Romeo Furlanetto, his wife Maria, a Calestani from Casalmaggiore, took over.
The oldest and most important production of jewels, called 'crazy gold', was located here, since they are not entirely precious, starting from the second half of the 19th century. It was in fact
here that gold-plated was invented, a gold-plated sheet, which had enormous success all over the world.
The industries that produced accessories, but not only, formed a consortium, continuing the business until the 1970s.
All would have been lost if the bijoux museum had not been created in 1998, which tells the story of the evolution of bijoux with over thirty thousand pieces, which follows very quickly the
evolution of the historical period and related trends.
Just in 1998, at the closure of the Furlanetto company in Bologna, Annarita Vitali, after two years of cataloging materials, began to produce unique pieces with period materials, precisely those
purchased by the aforementioned company. In a villa from the early 1900s, unique thematic artifacts are created, all rigorously made with period materials.
These are thematic jewels, as recurring themes emerge from the materials and their historicization, moreover not only in the world of jewelry but present in many artistic typologies,
architecture, iconography, poetry, literature, etc. The anthropological and social analysis that reveals the reasons for the trends is interesting ... for example shells, the first ornament of
man, which cyclically, but one could say seasonally, emerge, heraldry, naturalistic themes, etc. "
